Reflections

January 1, 2018

She stared at her reflection in the water that was glistening back at her as the frost does when the sun kisses each crystal masterpiece. There was a shimmering, magical reflection on the surface but inside all she could see was a dull, lifeless limp flower surrounded by dark shadows that was in desperate need of rain.  She floated her hand across the top of the water and touched the shimmering light ever so lightly to make ripples in hopes to wash away this sadness.  Perhaps the ripples would carry her heart out to the clouds in the heavens where she could attach every heart beat as a tether and float away to escape.  Why was this journey so tormenting in moments.  The universe felt like a puppet master as it pulled on her strings to try and guide her where she should be.  The more she resisted the tighter the strings…the tighter her heart would clench and ache.  She slowly lay back on the ground with her eyes fixated on the blue sky above her that should feel comforting, light and bring oceans of possibilities to her imagination but it only felt like an ocean of muted blue, as heavy as the weight of the world waiting to drop and take her last breath.  As she closed her weary eyes, scrunching them so tightly together it felt like needles would occasionally try to pierce through, she cried out with her words…..Please take the sorrow and loneliness from my soul and fill me with the sunshine that the heavens beam down.  Please breathe life back into my weary soul for I am weak and tired.  A tear slowly traveled down her rose pink cheek that seemed to have been painted by a single brush stroke to accompany her words as they echoed to the universe.  She unclenched her eyes to lay there being still, hearing her heartbeat in the silence.  Her eyes, as weary as they were, now fixated once again on the palette of blues above.   She saw the heavens now through her heart and her eyes were filled full of radiant, vibrant colors.  She knew in her being her weariness would be over soon.  The universe quieted all that surrounded her and it was as though she was floating amidst the stars on only a wave of golden light and the universe whispered to her…All Is Well.  Then a warm, gentle breeze greeted her wrapping her in comfort as a blanket would and she found herself aware she was resting back on the grass.  As she embraced the warmth of the elements around her, she answered to the universe…I am grateful, I am love and I will continue to walk in truth and with courage.  She knew it was the only way.
