Let Her Run

July 7, 2024

Sometimes it is not meant for us to write particular words from our own heart and hand. Maybe the words are just out of reach because our vulnerability is still being uncovered as we walk through our own journey. Maybe it is because to hear it from someone else in their center and truth hits us differently because we are not numb to their experience, only to our own daily reflection in the mirror.

The courage it can take to share our experiences with the world, whether through writing or through conversation with a friend or stranger, can be heart pounding at times. It can come with fear or contemplation to hold it within. But I do believe, it is in walking through that fear and sharing with each other, that we support each other in not feeling alone. Perhaps providing some comfort with our words, and maybe…just maybe… spark some inspired action because we were touched by what was shared.

Let me set the scene: I was sitting on the couch scrolling through Facebook and this feed was in the next flick of my thumb… “Fall for a woman who doesn’t need you”… That grabbed me instantly and simultaneously in my head I said “Yes!”…this person gets it and I wanted to read more. This person wasn’t familiar to me and not even someone I follow.  Then with every line I continued to read, it was like he had opened the door directly to my heart and mind and we were sitting in this empty room, reading this together as the outside world faded away. I remember reading that last word and all I said in my thoughts was…”This” – and exhaling like a weight had been lifted.  Then strangely feeling a sense of relief, without a therapy session (which I am an advocate of) because my feelings had been acknowledged and came to life in every single word.  Something I haven’t been able to express through words, only felt.

It was so powerful, I immediately started to google this person and searched for any books he had written to see if there was something I could get my hands on. Well, I found him.

So, what do I want to leave to all who read this entry in my blog today?  This…

To be unapologetically you…share that. You never know whose life you will touch and the inspiration it could give to another…and yourself.

Now I will turn the words over to Jack-

Fall for a woman who doesn’t need you.

One who has rebuilt herself from nothing,

more than once, with her own two hands.

One who is delicate like fire,

who could scorch earth

or warm your soul.

Fall for a woman who isn’t afraid to burn

for what she believes in,

and refuses to force

what isn’t meant to be.

Fall for a woman who lights up

when impassioned,

who still romanticizes life,

and is awed by the beauty of the moon.

Fall for a woman who isn’t afraid

of who she’s becoming,

and expects the best of everything.

One who refuses to settle,

and will challenge you to grow

in ways you never knew.

Fall for a woman who is so loyal,

so faithful and determined,

that there’s no room in her life

for anyone who isn’t.

Fall for a woman who sees your pain

and imperfections

as something to pour her love into.

One who accepts people

for what they show her,

not what they promise or claim.

Fall for a woman who values her time so much

she won’t waste it anywhere it isn’t appreciated.

Fall for someone who will inspire greatness

in you,

and who moves you in the direction

of your dreams.

When you find her, be there entirely, bravely,

wholeheartedly.

Give her your hands,

your energy, patience, and attention.

And show her there is no place safer

than the place right beside you.

Then, no matter what,

don’t let her down.
